Draken is set to join Ninjas in Pyjamas, replacing Pyth who has played for the team since December 2015. Pyth will still remain on the team as a substitute, with NiP releasing a statement expressing that they “hope to see him in the active roster again in the future“.
NiP have had some notable achievements in the past year, such as winning Dreamhack Masters Malmo in April 2016, as well as winning IEM Oakland. However, NiP were inconsistent through late 2016, coming to a head when they failed to qualify for the ELEAGUE 2017 Major in Atlanta, the first time in history that NiP have not qualified for a Major tournament. It’s clear that NiP have needed a change for a while, even as far back as ESL ONE Cologne 2016 Major, where they failed to make it to the live shows, being knocked out in the group stages.

Draken has proved himself to be a very impactful player on his former team, epsilon, who finished 5th-8th at WESG and ESWC. Although nothing has been confirmed, it’s expected that Draken will become the teams primary AWPer, which may give the team a better structure overall. Draken has since stated,
“Getting picked up by Ninjas in Pyjamas is a dream come true for me. One year ago, I was competing on the FaceIT platform, where I qualified for the minor in Bucharest. I have since then been working hard on improving and believe I can have an in-game impact in NiP.”
