After several tweets from ECS hinting of a return to British soil for their event, (the cups of tea and terrible weather gifs were dead giveaways), they have announced the dates and venue for their Season 3 Finals.
The event will take place between Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th of June 2017, at the SSE Arena Wembley in London, UK. 16 teams are competing for a place at the finals, where the quarter’s, semi’s and grand final will take place; 8 from Europe and 8 from North America. The total prize pool for the season stands at $1,500,000 USD, a figure that no team will surely wish to miss out on a share of.
Michele Attisani, CBO and co-founder of FACEIT said the following: “We’re thrilled to bring the excitement of the ECS Finals back to Wembley in London,”. “After an epic Finals in Southern California in Season Two, we’re looking forward to hosting Europe’s esports fans for the culmination of ECS Season Three.”
As well at the CS:GO action, visitors will have the chance to attend team signing sessions, celebrity appearances, partner giveaways and ‘more exciting surprises’. ECS have an interesting ticket selling incentive that encourages large groups of friends to attend the event in order to boost overall ticket sales. It’s tagline is “more tickets sold – more perks – more bonuses – more fun” and consists of the following:
It is good to see a greater amount of incentive and interaction with the community, and it gives the event a more ‘fun’ and approachable surface – particularly considering the ‘ECS Barber Shop – get your hair cut by a pro player!”.
The UK has had a reasonable share of top tier events in recent years, with ECS Season 1 Finals being held in Wembley, as well as the ESL Pro League Finals also being in London, and it is good to see the continuation of support for the UK community with another top tier event.
